Two Oblate Talks On March 16, Informational Event March 23

Two of a series of monthly presentations on Benedictine spirituality will continue on Sunday, March 16, from 3 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. and from 6:45 p.m. to 8 p.m. in seminary classroom Brownfield Room 202. The topic at 6:45 will be “Ask the Abbot,” and Archabbot Martin de Porres Bartel, O.S.B., will be the presenter. The topic at 3:00 will be “The Liturgy of the Hours,” and Brother Finnbar McEvoy, O.S.B., a junior monk and a seminary student, will be the presenter. To appreciate the presentations one does not need to have attended previous sessions. Attendees may also attend Vespers at 5 p.m. in the Archabbey Basilica.
Also,, supper at 5:35 in the Eichstätt Dining Room (guest dining room) will be available. If you plan to attend supper, please phone Father Donald, Director of Oblates, at least two days in advance at 724-805-2291.
Oblates of Saint Benedict are lay Christians (or secular clergy) who wish to live a more intensive Christian commitment through the spirituality of the Rule of Saint Benedict and affiliation with a Benedictine monastic community.
On Sunday, March 23, there will be an opportunity to learn more about the Oblate Program of Saint Vincent Archabbey. People who are interested may participate in Vespers with the monastic community at 5 p.m. and then have dinner in the guest dining room, along with conversation with the Director of Oblates and several alumni Oblates.
All members of the student body, faculty, and staff of Saint Vincent College, along with family and friends are welcome to attend. Those planning to attend the dinner should contact Father Donald at 724-805-2291 or svaoblates@stvincent.edu.
