Oblate Talk on June 14, 2026

Father Maurus Mount, O.S.B., will speak on “Poverty and Simplicity” at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 14 at the monthly meeting of the Oblates of Saint Benedict of Saint Vincent Archabbey. The meetings are held on the second floor of the John and Annette Brownfield Center at Saint Vincent College and Seminary.

Father Maurus served as parochial vicar of Saint Vincent Basilica Parish for two years, prior to beginning graduate studies, and is a member of the adjunct faculty at Saint Vincent College, in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages. He has been a member of the monastic community since 2001, making first vows in 2002 and solemn vows in 2005. He was ordained to the priesthood on May 20, 2006.

Father Maurus has a Bachelor of Arts degree in classical languages from Marquette University, Master of Arts and Bachelor of Sacred Theology degrees from Saint Vincent Seminary, a Master of Arts degree in Classical Languages from the University of Illinois, and a doctorate in classical philology from the University of Vienna. His languages include Spanish, Latin, Greek, German, French, Italian and Portuguese. He is also a member of the Archabbey Schola.
