At a dinner sponsored by Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Greensburg on April 18, Oblate Edward “Ed” Antonacci of Jeannette received the award for humanitarianism. An article in the diocese’s Catholic Accent stated that Ed was “a man of prayer and action” who “never refuses a request for help in his parishes.” The article also mentions that Ed “searches for ways to increase membership while also serving the temporal needs of the parishes by raising funds and pitching in for projects like cleaning and landscaping. His most recent effort was bringing in outside speakers to the adult faith formation program.” He is also an active participant in the pro-life movement, serves as president of the Holy Name Society of Ascension Parish, and, as a self-employed engineer, “lends his expertise and time to improve parking at Sacred Heart Parish, drainage at Sacred Heart Cemetery and pavement at Ascension Parish.”
