Author Dr. Derya Little spoke to the Oblates of Saint Benedict of Saint Vincent Archabbey on her Journey from Islam to the Catholic Church through atheism and protestantism on September 22.
Born and raised in Muslim Turkey, Derya Little rejected her family’s Islamic faith and became an atheist after her parents’ divorce. During her stormy adolescence, she tried to convince a Christian missionary that there is no God, but was converted to Christ instead.
While attending a Turkish university and serving as a Christian youth minister, Dr. Little began to compare the teachings of Protestantism and Catholicism, and during her doctoral studies in England, she entered the Catholic Church.
She has a master of arts degree in history and a doctorate in politics. She has written articles for academic journals, Catholic World Report, Crisis Magazine, and other Catholic publications. Her conversion story, From Islam to Christ, is published by Ignatius Press.
Her talk was co-sponsored by Saint Vincent Basilica Parish and the Oblates of Saint Benedict. To view the talk, visit this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=hpP4djG9cKU
